2011 NFF Scholar Athletes

Mercer Island quarterback Jeff Lindquist and Bellevue lineman Jacob Eldrenkamp were selected as the 2011 National football Foundation Seattle – King County Chapter scholar athlete recipients at the 46th annual Scholar Athlete award ceremony at CenturyLink Field, Sunday, February 12, 2012. Both Lindquist and Eldrenkamp will attend the University of Washington later this year.


Sounders Celebrate Second Open Cup Win

Mike Seamon and Seattle Sounders FC team captain Kasey Keller displayed their moment of overwhelming exhuberance of winning a second straight US Open Cup in 2010 by spraying and dousing head coach Sigi Schmid with champagne during the post game media session.

Ripken and the O’Brien Twins

Eddie and Johnnie O’Brien held the Major League baseball record for double plays turned by brothers when the the twins, from Seattle University, played five seasons together for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1950’s. Cal and Bill Ripken became the current  record holders when the brothers played shortstop and second base for Baltimore Orioles during the late 1980’s through the early 1990’s.  Cal joined Eddie and Johnnie during a Seattle U baseball fundraising event in Seattle, Jan 31, 2012.
