McElhenny ran the ball for the Huskies in the early ’50’s prior to being drafted in the first round by the San Francisco 49er’s as the ninth overall pick where he was nicknamed “The King” for is dominating rushing style.
Seattle Seahawks running back and third selection overall in the 1983 NFL Draft, Curt Warner was off and running on the first play from scrimmage in the September 4, 1983 opening with the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium with a 60 yard run around left end. Warner finished with 90 yards rushing on 12 carries and caught six passes for another 72 yards and one touchdown.
